On the occasion of Venise pour la Francophonie 2023, Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro will host an esclusive tour of exhibition NIKOS ALIAGAS. REGARDS VÉNITIENS at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani on Thursday 30 March at 6 p.m.

Nikos Aliagas travelled the Venetian calli to meet the very people who usually avoid glances and lenses: the inhabitants. His camera has travelled through the extraordinary everyday life of Venice and its calli, ensuring that the images tell the stories of those who live and make these places come alive. Aliagas's photographs are strictly black and white: the artist has explored contrasts, backlighting, and movement within shots in which straight and curved lines blend on a face or at the corner of a calle.

“Is it still possible to improvise in Venice? In a city photographed millions of times by as many passing eyes? Yes, replies the artist, “if you take your cue from the fact that it is Venice that looks at us and observes us.”
