Fifty years after the Carnation Revolution: freedom of expression in words, posters and wall poetry
9 October, 6 pm
One of the immediate consequences of the revolution was the regaining of freedom of expression, which immediately manifested itself in the streets of cities: not only in the voices, choruses and slogans that accompanied the great demonstrations of the time, but also by occupying the surfaces of public space, with writings, murals and posters. On the other hand, the memory of the revolution and its ideals continues to creatively occupy the urban space of Lisbon and other cities.
Eugenio Lucotti (UL/Lisbon) will discuss these issues with Vanessa Castagna (Ca' Foscari University, Venice).
