Invito al viaggio 2026

20 November 2026 — 22 November 2026

From 20 to 22 November 2026, Palazzo Vendramin Grimani will host the fourth edition of Invito al viaggio, the Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro's travel literature festival.

This year's edition, entitled From Gods to Myths, offers a programme of reflection devoted to the legacy of the great mythological narratives and to their extraordinary ability to transcend time. Far from being mere stories of the past, myths continue to shape our imagination, nourish languages and artistic creation, and influence the way we interpret the present.

From the divine figures of Antiquity to contemporary narratives, from the shores of the Mediterranean to Europe's many cultural geographies, the festival invites audiences to reflect on the persistence of foundational stories and their meaning today. Why do some stories continue to speak to our societies? How are they transformed through literature, history, travel and photography? What can they still reveal about courage, exile, memory, and the role of women in our representations of the world?

Over the course of three days, writers, scholars and journalists from several European countries will offer complementary perspectives on myths and their enduring presence in contemporary culture.

Guests at the fourth edition include Nikos Aliagas, Antonella Cilento, Lucien d’Azay, Laure de Chantal, Ivica Đikić, Angelo Floramo, Robert Perišić, Jean-Christophe Rufin, Karina Sainz-Borgo, Pauline Schmitt-Pantel, Urielle Szac, Sylvain Tesson and David Uclés.

The full programme will be announced in September 2026.

To attend all events, take part in the talks and enjoy the aperitifs with the authors, simply become a Friends dell'Albero d'Oro (membership starting from €20.00) and register for the sessions. Students of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice can access the events free of charge. Reservation is required by writing to info@fondazionealberodoro.org.
