Lord Byron (1788-1924)

Lord Byron was one of the greatest figures of English Romanticism. Between 1812 and 1818, he published his most famous work, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, a narrative poem that originated from the author's experiences between 1808 and 1811, during the Grand Tour, the journey across Europe that was traditionally undertaken by the young noblemen of his time. The protagonist embodies the characteristic traits of the Byronic hero, such as a tormented soul and a constant search for new emotions, which lead the hero to travel and discover faraway places.
