Mauro's gaze was captured by Greek-French photographer Nikos Aliagas during an art residence in Venice in 2022.
Nikos' lens traveled through the extraordinary everyday life of Venice, letting photography tell the stories of those who live and make these places come alive.
Mauro is from Murano and dreamed of being a master glassmaker since he was a child. Today it is done: his workshop is in San Cassiano, in the Sestiere of Santa Croce, which Mauro leaves on his travels during which he presents and teaches his technique.
Its miniature reproductions look almost like small shells, but they do not come from the beaches of the Lido: they are skilfully crafted by the hand of the master glassmaker.
The photography exhibition Nikos Aliagas. Regards Vénitiens is open to the public in the ground floor spaces of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, home of Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro, until November 26, 2023.
