Special event for Venetians

21 October 2022

For the last day of opening of the Bosco Sodi exhibition at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani. What Goes Around Comes Around, curated by Daniela Ferretti and Dakin Hart, the Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro will host a special finissage event dedicated to the public and especially to Venetians living in the city's historic centre.

Residents will be granted free admission to the exhibition at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani and, upon reservation, will be able to take home one of the 195 spheres that make up the Noi siamo uno (We Are One) installation.

For his solo exhibition at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani – a Collateral Event of the Art Biennale 2022 – Bosco Sodi has placed 195 small clay spheres on the floor of the exhibition spaces in the Sala delle Quattro Famiglie. These were modelled with clay from Oaxaca and baked there in an improvised oven on the beach. The number corresponds to the current number of nation-states existing on Earth. During the exhibition, each visitor has had the opportunity to move one of the miniature globes. In this way, the installation changed day by day and the different locations of the spheres were periodically photographed to document the evolution of the work.

The possibility given to Venetians to take a sphere home with them, accepting to be its responsible guardian, is part of the circuit of exchange that the artist has activated with his residency in the spaces of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani. By entrusting the spheres to residents, the exchange process is part of a circularity that is very important for the artist, leaving something of himself in the Lagoon that has welcomed him and allowed him to create new works based on the atmospheric imprint of the city.

Update: the form for collecting the spheres is now closed. Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro thanks all participants.
