Interview with Karine N'guyen Van Tham

28 June 2024
« I have the impression that when I sculpt the fabric, everything comes to life. »
Karine N’Guyen Van Tham

Karine N’guyen Van Tham was invited to undertake different phases of residence at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani on the occasion of the Collateral Event of the Art Biennale Per non perdere il filo. Karine N’guyen Van Tham - Parul Thacker, curated by Daniela Ferretti.

N’guyen Van Tham sees the textile object as a relic imprinted with life, smells, postures and emotions. A fragment of life that she sets out to recount through a subtle dialogue between emotion and the material that the artist nurtures and that materialises in her hands; Karine feels, writes, weaves, dips her hands in plant colours, embroiders, wears, sculpts and shapes.

The work in progress À corps ouverts is a true work in progress: it will be finalised and presented in October 2024.
