NIKOS ALIAGAS. REGARDS VÉNITIENS EXTENDED

15 March 2023

The photographic exhibition NIKOS ALIAGAS. REGARDS VÉNITIENS is extended until 26 November 2023

Palazzo Vendramin Grimani will thus remain open to the public for the entire 2023 exhibition season.

The photographic exhibition Nikos Aliagas. Regards Vénitiens, hosted in the spaces of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani and the result of an artistic residence made possible as part of the cultural initiatives promoted by the Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro, is extended beyond its scheduled closing date of 2 April and will thus remain open to the public until 26 November 2023.

Visitors will be able to admire for a few more months the more than 150 shots of the Greek-born French photographer Nikos Aliagas, who has sought and succeeded in capturing an unprecedented Venice, absorbed in its slow and generous daily life. Palazzo Vendramin Grimani will therefore remain open continuously throughout the season, without any intermission, also in view of the next exhibition opening on 29 April 2023, Nicolò Manucci, the Marco Polo of India. A Venetian at the 17th-century Mughal Court.

Nikos Aliagas travelled the Venetian calli to meet the very people who usually avoid glances and lenses: the inhabitants. His camera has travelled through the extraordinary everyday life of Venice and its calli, ensuring that the images tell the stories of those who live and make these places come alive. Aliagas's photographs are strictly black and white: the artist has explored contrasts, backlighting, and movement within shots in which straight and curved lines blend on a face or at the corner of a calle.

Visitors can discover the original exhibition on the ground floor and in the courtyard of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
