In collaboration with Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, and on the occasion of the last days of the ‘Nicolò Manucci. the Marco Polo of India’ exhibition, the Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro will host a series of meetings and conversations in the drawing room of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani between figures of travel literature. From Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 November, An Invitation to th Voyage will be the first edition of the Incontri dell'Albero d'Oro (Meetings of the Albero d’Oro), a series of annual appointments dedicated to literature in correspondence with the annual programme of exhibitions and events open to the public.

For this first edition, the meetings will be open to the public, free of charge upon reservation. The guests will enliven the drawing room of Palazzo Vendramin Grimani by discussing, each in their own language, the themes of the relationship between travel and literary creation. Simultaneous translation into Italian will be available for each meeting.

The aim of this series of conversations will be to highlight not only the journeys that are the objects of the narratives, but also to reveal the driving forces that push authors today to choose, explore and follow certain paths, be they real, imaginary, historical or of other nature... Starting from the productions and experiences of the guests, free-ranging and conversational exchanges will invite us to retrace their incredible journeys. In addition to the adventures they have experienced, which form the subject of their books, they will be asked to analyse the places they have passed through from a geographical, ethnological, economic and historical point of view.
